It’s happening. Finally.
Whether you’ve followed New Origins from our early days (dive bars in Salt Lake City), or you joined us when we reunited during the pandemic to record and release Archive of the Unbounded, Arc One: That Light You See Is Hope and It’s Burning Down Your City—or even if you’ve never heard of us until literally this very second, because you happened to click a social-media link or something—we’re pleased to finally announce our follow-up album, Arc Two of our sci-fi triptych: Stolen Fire from Jealous Stars, coming this Halloween! (That’s Friday, October 31, 2025, in case anyone forgot.)
If you haven’t yet listened to TLYSIH (our affectionate shorthand for an admittedly long album title), you’ll be missing some key context going into Arc Two. It’s not required listening per se, but if you’re interested in the cinematic, narrative-driven epic that is New Origins, then you’ll want to start the story (you guessed it) at the start. Archive of the Unbounded isn’t just music, you see; it’s about as close to a rock opera as we could get without a whole lot of actors, stage hands, and other talented professionals backing us three weirdos up. And as a story about the burgeoning self-actualization of synthetic life, it’s a story that’s become all the more relevant over the course of its writing. (We’re not psychic; we didn’t plan on AI becoming such a huge thing during the course of the project’s development.)
With Arc Two, we’re back with more narrative content (written by the three of us), more sci-fi visuals (a mixture of an awesome commissioned album cover hand-drawn by the wonderful Marvin Lee, along with our own photography and glitch art mixed with some generative AI [this is the only element for which we used that]), and we’ve got … just a ludicrously long album, coming in at just under twice the length of Arc One.
But it’s not just about more: if all we cared about was more, this album would have been out at least two years ago—after all, Arc One debuted in early 2021. Beyond simply having a lot of story to tell, a lot of music to share, and a lot of collective creativity to explore, we’ve also honed our production chops. Arc One was our first attempt at recording, producing, and releasing an album—most of which we taught ourselves (because the pandemic left us with a lot of free time on our hands). Arc Two takes all of those elements further, and we’re thrilled to finally share the polished product: our music, the way we’ve always wanted it heard.
Join us this Halloween (or, you know, any time afterwards) to experience Arc Two: Stolen Fire From Jealous Stars—coming soon to an internet near you! (By which we mean Spotify, YouTube, our website, or wherever else you get your music.)
P.S. This album saw us through: one first-time homeownership, two marriages, one dog adoption, one international move, one James Beard award, eight novels written, one book of poems composed, two degrees earned, one literary agent signing, and one EP. We’ve been somewhat busier post-pandemic, it seems.
